The New Zealand Climate Foundation is an independent, philanthropically funded, organisation focused on mitigation and emissions reduction.
We are not a conventional grant maker, think tank or project delivery organisation - we are a flexible mix of all three.
Our role is to help create the conditions in which solutions can be delivered at pace and scale.
We start with an emissions opportunity, identify what is preventing progress, and assemble the combination of evidence, strategy, capital, policy, partnerships and delivery capability needed to move it.
The solutions are within reach.
The New Zealand Climate Foundation finds the barriers holding them back and brings together the evidence, funding, institutions and partners needed to unlock progress at scale.
Our work is evidence based and directed toward outcomes that materially change New Zealand’s emissions trajectory, particularly in areas where existing systems, incentives, or funding are holding progress back.
We focus on moving climate solutions from possible to achievable.
Identify
We identify high-impact climate opportunities, design evidence-based pathways, and activate credible delivery mechanisms.
Activate
We help build the evidence, strategy, coalition, policy pathway, financial mechanism or delivery capability required to get action moving.
Convene
We bring together the organisations, expertise and decision-makers needed to solve the whole problem.
Support
We provide catalytic funding, strategic support and accountability until the work can grow through the institutions best placed to deliver it.
